that’s awesome! i’m with justin–it opens the gateway to some strange alternate land where things are entrancingly lush but have little causality.
Pick the lock. You know you want to.
I hefted it a bit, shook it around and put my ear up to the fist to see if I could hear the rest of the chain rattling inside (nope).
But if I actually could get it open, chances are the fist would stay closed, and the chain would just hang there, metaphor broken. Better, I think, that I left it alone, and now can continue to wonder.
