I’m having one of those moments where I want to comment, but the comment would be so long and open to interpretation that it would be impractical to write it all out. You do have this tendency to write posts that provoke this reaction–not that I’m complaining, mind you! So, I’ll save my thoughts, but the essence of the comment is that there’s some other ways to look at hedonism and neo-Pagan philosophies that go deeper into the spiritual realm, and that I think you would find interesting.
I certainly didn’t go into hedonism, philosophy and/or spirituality very deeply here—I wanted to, and was tempted, but was trying to force myself to keep the post under a thousand words so somebody might actually read it.
But I suspect I would have attempted to engage it on a rational rather than spiritual level, which I have a tendency to do. And then we could have had some rousing back and forth on the subject, which I always enjoy. But I guess we’ll have to imagine it happened that way in hypotheticals and be satisfied with that.
I was rather tired (from a long weekend of dancing and singing and not sleeping, speaking of pleasure) yesterday, and perhaps that was why I didn’t feel up to posting the comment. I enjoy that back and forth, too, it’s always fun and leads down some interesting pathways, and there’s nothing like a good conversation. For some reason, though, trying to express myself about the topic at hand and not have it be unclear or go all wrong (at least yesterday, and in a public post) became a bigger obstacle than I could cross.
